FAQs

What Fees are Associated with Working with S.E.L.F. Wealth?

At S.E.L.F. Wealth, we do NOT charge a fee per meeting. As an independent fee-based advisory firm, our clients pay an ongoing fee for the management of their accounts. This fee varies based on the size of the portfolio, the investment allocation, and the type of management. Additionally, we sometimes recommend life insurance and annuity policies, for which our office is compensated directly by the insurance carrier through commissions. When we meet to discuss your financial needs and objectives, we will clearly explain any fees involved based on the agreed-upon services. Rest assured, you will not be charged anything until a clear course of action is discussed, agreed upon, and implemented.

What are Some Common Concerns Your Clients Face?

  • Will I outlive my retirement savings?
  • Can I retire early?
  • Are my investments earning enough to reach my goals?
  • How much market risk should I have?
  • How do I reduce taxes in retirement?
  • What is the ideal way to plan for the next market decline?
  • What are the elements of a legacy plan?
  • Do I have enough life insurance for my family?
  • How much should I be paying in fees to my advisor?
  • Should I pay off my mortgage?

Do You Meet with Clients on the Weekends?

At S.E.L.F. Wealth, we do not schedule client meetings on weekends. We believe financial planning is as important as health care, deserving the same level of seriousness and attention. Just as you would make time to see a doctor or dentist during regular business hours, we encourage our clients to do the same for their financial health. Most of our clients appreciate the importance of this approach and schedule their meetings accordingly.

Is There a Fee for the First Meeting?

We do not charge a fee for our initial consultation or for ongoing consultations (please refer to the fee information above). The initial consultation is an opportunity for us to get to know each other without any pressure. During this casual, one-hour meeting, we will discuss your financial goals, concerns, current investments, and other planning-related aspects. If we feel we can add value to your financial planning and you are a client we would like to work with long-term, we will schedule a second appointment.
